Ryan McKeen is a union-side labour lawyer and is Senior Legal Counsel for the Labourers’ International Union of North America, Local 183, the largest construction local union in North America. In this role, Ryan represents the Union and its members in arbitration hearings, collective bargaining, proceedings before various tribunals including before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and provides strategic advice to the Union. In addition, Ryan regularly conducts educational seminars for the membership and employees of the Union involving among other things, Human Rights and Workplace Health and Safety. Ryan’s work reflects LIUNA Local 183’s mission to strengthen the voice of workers and improve working conditions in the construction industry. Prior to joining the Union in 2015, Ryan worked as a lawyer at a commercial litigation firm representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, insolvency matters, shareholder issues, and labour and employment litigation. He is skilled at developing practical strategies to resolve conflicts efficiently, whether through negotiation, mediation, or tribunal / trial advocacy.
