John Bonin is Manager of Indigenous Affairs at Aecon Group Inc. He is an expert in relationship building and negotiations with government and Indigenous communities, and was appointed to the Provincial Minister’s Aboriginal Economic Development Advisory Panel. John brings extensive experience in indigenous relations, negotiating skills, and strategic planning complemented by significant knowledge of construction and operations. His role revolves around supporting project teams in a leadership position to help the company achieve long-term goals of being respected partners and driving economic development opportunities with Indigenous communities.
Previously, John worked at Union Gas for 40 years in various management positions including operations, construction, maintenance, sales and service across the Ontario operations. He has also assisted in the start-up of WestCoast Energy companies: Union Energy and Maritimes NRG in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
John holds Queens’ University course certificates concentrating in consultation and negotiation, and strategic planning. He earned his Ontario College Diploma in Business Management at Fanshawe College and has been very active in leadership roles with various Chambers of Commerce, Rotary and Lions Clubs across Ontario.
